Injury

Hi, Doing the 'London Moonwalk' for the 6th time this year. 26.2 miles walking overnight. Sprained ankle in march last year, have had physio twice. Once on ankle then on peroneal tendon across outside base of foot. It gets to the stage where I can run 4-5 times a week and play netball with no problems but now I have started walking again it hurts again in peroneal tendon, any ideas?

Tape or wrap it for support, warm up the tendon first - both literally and by stretching. Work up to it. You could consider an ATC anti-inflam or a NSAID for the walk event.

I had foot surgery to repair a break in July and just started serious walking again Dec. 15. I put my ankle braces back on and they do the trick. I also wear runner's compression socks when I walk, and, of course, good shoes. Hope you find a solution that works for you! Have you had gait training with a therapist?
